Weekend Catchup

Well, Thursday was my Happy 2nd Trimester day. Jon and Ricky had planned a video game night full of killing terrorists or something of the sort. Jackie and I planned to go to the Taste of Yukon. We got to walk around and sample many different foods from many different restaurants surrounding the Yukon area. What more could a pregnant gal ask for??

Friday was bunco night with the girls! Jackie was hosting and she made some AWESOME enchiladas! We all had a great time....except the girls were trying to sabotage my lucky streak :) I didn't have to visit the "loser" table once!!! I got one of the prizes at the end of the game - which were these really cute yellow ramekin cups and Jackie's recipe for Breakfast Blossoms. It was such a great evening!

Saturday, I made a trip to the mall and then we spent the evening with Jon's family at Liz and Bernie's house for Bernie's birthday. Sunday - I got up and made the Breakfast Blossoms. They were delicious!!! Thanks Jackie!

Breakfast Blossoms
1 puff pastry sheet (thawed for 40 minutes and cut into 4 squares)
baby spinach leaves
shaved ham
eggs
grated cheese

Thaw puff pastry for 40 minutes. Cut into 4 squares and put into ramekin cups sprayed with Pam. Place 3-4 spinach leaves on bottom, a couple pieces of shaved ham, raw egg, and some grated cheese. Bake in preheated oven at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Pop them out of the ramekins and serve on plates.

We spent the rest of Sunday afternoon at Liz and Bernie's with Henry - he was such a good baby all day long! Then we went to Patty's for dinner and headed home.

This morning I am exhausted from the excitement of the storm last night and really wanted to stay in bed all day long. We have our next doctor's appt on Wednesday. I hope we get to schedule the ultrasound then! Pretty soon we'll know if little Jondice is a girl or a boy! How exciting!

Baby's First Hook Echo

Well, last night we experienced the first tornado sirens of spring. Yes, the time has come. Here in Oklahoma - when the sirens go off, we do not usually run for cover, screaming in a panic for our lives. We turn on the weather and walk outside to look around.

Last night - just as I was about to fall asleep - the sirens went off. Two storms were coming our way - with two possible hook echos, which are one of the classic signs of tornado-producing thunderstorms. HOWEVER, it was over an hour away from us - and those of us in Oklahoma and Texas know that lots can happen weather-wise in an hour. I understand the first siren - giving us a heads-up that the weather is going to get bad. But, the second and third siren sounding before the storm is even close is a bit overkill. It's like the boy who cried wolf.

That's why I turn on the news and hope that Gary England is on. He's the man.

When this commercial first aired - I nearly laughed my pants off! Gotta love Gary England though :) Then the Daily Show did a spoof on it, and we laughed about it for weeks.

By the time the storm actually hit - Jon and I were both fast asleep. There was some hail, wind, and rain - but no more sirens in our town. We woke up the next day, realizing the storm did hit part of the OKC/Edmond area - leaving some tornado/wind damage and power outtages. Yukon seemed to be fine.

Welcome to tornado season baby Jondice!

Our Easter Weekend

We had a wonderful Easter weekend!

I left work Friday at noon (we get half-day off for Good Friday) and spent the rest of the afternoon with Kendra. We went to eat chinese and went shopping. It was much needed time with my best friend! I hadn't seen her in a while and we had a great time as always. That night, Jon and I went to Pizza Hut. I think it was the first time I had been to a pizza joint, where no one ordered pizza :) I stuck with the salad bar and Jon ordered pasta. We grabbed a couple of movies at Blockbuster, went home, and fell asleep before watching anything. We were both exhausted!

Saturday night, Jon and I went to mass with Patty and Donnie here in Yukon. It was by far the longest mass any of us had been too. We left after about 2 1/2 hours, and it was still going on! The message was good - of course. It was the Easter message!!! Jesus has risen! Afterwards, we went to Liz and Bernie's to say hi. Henry sat with me and told me all about his day.

Sunday - Jon had to work. I called my mom and dad in Texas to see what their plans were. I was sad that we weren't there this weekend, but it was good to talk to them. I'm planning to take a trip down there in a couple of weeks...that'll be fun! I went to Walmart to pick up some things for the Easter dinner at Liz and Bernie's. I bought a cute little stuffed animal and toy for Jondice. I couldn't resist :) When Jon got off work - we went to Liz and Bernie's for the Easter cookout. Pork tenderloin. Yum!

Now, I'm nearly out of the first trimester!!! Can't believe how time flies!

PS - Barkley is better now. And, Gasso is the least favorite pet. All is right in the world.

Gasso gets the Pet of the Day Award!!!

God sent us Barkley, our little weenie dog, 2 years ago to prepare us for children. That was His plan - I know it. Not to learn responsibility and how to teach, discipline, and reward. But, how to learn to deal with the peeing, pooping, vomiting, chewing, destroying, whining, rebelling, bringing dead squirrels into the house....oh wait, hopefully our kids won't do that!

It's 4:15 in the morning, all is quiet in the house...until Barkley starts whining and doing what he is so aptly named for....barking. We both know this isn't a good sign, because this has happened before.....numerous times. We both say some "choice words" as we crawl out of bed. It looks like a scene from Night of the Living Dead as we stumble down the hallway and into the living room. I'm not quite ready to fully commit to waking up, keeping one earplug in. Yes, I wear earplugs to bed....they are oblong foam miracles that saved our marriage. Jon snores, and I'm a light sleeper. Back to the story.

We both smell what we expected to smell. Poop. Not just any kind of poop - "sick" poop. In his crate. After a few more "choice words", we kick it into gear. Since this has happened numerous times before, because Barkley apparently has a doggie version of IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), we know the routine. I let Barkley outside to finish any other business he may need to finish. Then I grab him and quickly run to the bathtub to give him a bath. Jon on the other hand, gets the fun job - cleaning the crate. Poor guy - I would've helped him, but with the smell that was coming out of that thing, he'd be cleaning that plus the vomit that would be coming out of me! Yes, I played the pregnancy card :)

After Barkley's bath, he of course had to jump on the couch and on to some clean folded clothes, to shake all the water off. After chasing him around and finally catching him, we put him back in the crate, washed up, and went back to bed to try and salvage what little sleep we had left. As we were lying there, Jon mutters, "Gasso is my favorite pet now" and I agreed with him.

For those that don't know - Gasso is Jon's devil cat that has it out for me. Gasso and I are at war - she's winning, for now. However, she is loved today because she finally gets the Pet of the Day award. She better enjoy it, because it's the only one she'll get :)

Congratulations Gasso!

Happy St. Patty's Day!

Almost 13 weeks! I can't believe it.

I'll start with Thursday night. We went to our friends, Ricky and Jackie's, for dinner. They spoiled us! They had yummy cheeses and meats for appetizers. Then they brought out the homemade lasagna, salad, and bread. It was awesome! We also got to see Kyle and Emily's new little baby girl. She's so precious - and such a good baby! Our friends, Brett and Keely were there also. Keely is my fellow redhead and she's also preggers. She's about 8 weeks ahead of me. We had a good night with friends and props to Ricky and Jackie for the fun and food! They're awesome hosts!

Friday night, all day Saturday, and Sunday, Jon had to work - poor guy! This week is going to be hard on him too. It's spring break and he's short-handed. So, this weekend I just hung around the house and got some laundry and housework done. Saturday night, I had a major craving for meatloaf. So, I decided I'd make one! Jon hates meatloaf - so now I've got a freezer full of lunches for the next week! While I was doing laundry, I got sucked in to a show about Big Foot sightings in Oklahoma. What the heck! Big Foots in Oklahoma?!?!?! We've gotta move....

Sunday, we went to Patty's (my MIL) for St. Patty's dinner. She's always so festive :) We had roast, potatoes, veggies, and cabbage. It was great! Little Henry became a little chunky monkey this week! He's got little rolls around his arms and legs. It's the cutest thing I've ever seen!

This weekend was a good weekend as far as nausea goes. I hope that means it's fading (fingers-crossed, knock-on-wood)!!

Dry heaves are the worst!!!

So, I've been great with the vomiting lately - none since the chicken taco incident over a week ago!!! Until this morning, for no apparent reason, I started dry heaving! Lovely. Let's hope that's the end of it!

I've also noticed this past week that onions do not agree with me. Cooked onions are okay, it's the raw ones that the baby REALLY doesn't like. This saddens me, because I love onions and eat them on everything!

We've really started buckling down and getting some names picked out. Still having problems with the boy names, but we're 99% sure if it's a girl, her name will be Maggie Grace. Maggie means Pearl and Grace means Grace of God. Grace was the middle name of my Memaw. She was a very special lady in my life, and I've always known that if I have a daughter, that will be her middle name. As for boy names, we like Samuel - call him Sam. But we aren't sold yet. If you have any great boy names, do share!

Almost 12 weeks!

I can't believe we are almost to the 12 week mark! Wow - time has flown.

This past weekend, we attended the wake and funeral of a dear friend, Brian. He was such a great guy - his life touched so many people. We are thankful to have known him.

After the funeral Saturday, Jon had to go to work. I spent the rest of the day at Patty's with Donnie, Liz, Bernie, and little Henry Hank. It was nice to just sit, talk, and play with Henry. It was a good day to be with family.

Sunday, I actually got up, went grocery shopping, and cleaned some! I actually cleaned our guest bathroom, which was in dire need of some bleach and scrubbing :) Jon decided to surprise me and come home early from work. We headed to Patty's for dinner that night.....the chili cheese dogs were a hit!! And, so was Patty's homemade chicken noodle soup that I will be having for lunch today!

Last night - Jon got the grill out and we grilled some chicken! I made corn-on-the-cob and baked potatoes. It really hit the spot!
