Baby's First Hook Echo

Well, last night we experienced the first tornado sirens of spring. Yes, the time has come. Here in Oklahoma - when the sirens go off, we do not usually run for cover, screaming in a panic for our lives. We turn on the weather and walk outside to look around.

Last night - just as I was about to fall asleep - the sirens went off. Two storms were coming our way - with two possible hook echos, which are one of the classic signs of tornado-producing thunderstorms. HOWEVER, it was over an hour away from us - and those of us in Oklahoma and Texas know that lots can happen weather-wise in an hour. I understand the first siren - giving us a heads-up that the weather is going to get bad. But, the second and third siren sounding before the storm is even close is a bit overkill. It's like the boy who cried wolf.

That's why I turn on the news and hope that Gary England is on. He's the man.

When this commercial first aired - I nearly laughed my pants off! Gotta love Gary England though :) Then the Daily Show did a spoof on it, and we laughed about it for weeks.

By the time the storm actually hit - Jon and I were both fast asleep. There was some hail, wind, and rain - but no more sirens in our town. We woke up the next day, realizing the storm did hit part of the OKC/Edmond area - leaving some tornado/wind damage and power outtages. Yukon seemed to be fine.

Welcome to tornado season baby Jondice!
