Well, lots has happened since I last blogged. I am now 17 weeks pregnant and looking forward to meeting this new little personality we are adding to our family. It's been an interesting pregnancy so far - nausea made it's presence known through the holidays, stomach flu, respiratory infection, and 2 snowstorms. But, I'm in the second trimester, feeling much better, the weather is great, and I am looking forward to better weeks ahead.
When I was pregnant with Sam, I decided to try out all the old wives tales of gender prediction to pass the time until we had our ultrasound. (see blog) Surprisingly, the majority of those tests came out to be BOY, and sure enough - Sam is 110% boy! And an adorable, sweet little boy he is. Ornery, but sweet :)
Of course, I wasn't going to pass up giving these a whirl for this next kiddo - and am surprised at the results. We will find out in a little over a week (hopefully), but here are what those old wives are saying:
Chinese gender calculator - GIRL
I highly doubt that iPhone apps for this legendary calendar from centuries ago actually depict the true calendar. However, that's what I used this time. Survey says....girl!
The Drano Test - GIRL
A little drano, a little urine, a little reaction - and voila! This is a test my mom swears by... and it was correct for Sam. Jon helped me out this time and sure enough - it was a definite blue-green....and Sam's was a definite brown.
Heartbeat Test - BOY
Apparently, if you hear a heartbeat of 140 or greater, it's a girl. However, Sam's was always over 140 - and he is not a girl. This little one has been following along in brother's footsteps - so I'm going to say boy.
Cravings - BOY
This was a hard one for me to figure out. However, the other night I had a dream that Jon and I went to Paris for our anniversary. We were looking for a romantic restaurant and ended up at a Texas Roadhouse and I had the most amazing, juicy red steak....I figure it's gotta be a boy!!!
Wedding Ring Test - GIRL
To do this test, you basically take your wedding ring and dangle it over your belly with a strand of hair. If it goes back and forth - it's a boy, and if it goes in circles, it's a girl. Survey says....girl!
Husband Test- GIRL
Jon says "only a woman can make you this miserable!" What a jerk! Haha.
Other people's opinions - GIRL
I posted a little poll on facebook - bribing people with m&m's for their vote. If it's a girl, I'll have to pack a lot of m&m's in my purse!
The "Me" Test - TIE
Ya know - I go back and forth on this. They say if you have bad morning sickness, it's a girl. It's definitely been worse this time than with Sam. They also say that a girl drains your beauty, gives you bad acne, and bad hair days. Well, my acne hasn't been too bad, and my hair hasn't been awful....yet! It's a tie.
So - the majority of the tests I've tried point to GIRL. As it was with Sam, it was all in good fun - we will definitely be happy with either pink or blue. Love to you all and my next post will likely be the actual results from the actual ultrasound!!!
