Our little Jondice!

Just a quick note while Marma is holding Sam......

We brought Sam home today from the hospital and he definitely loves his new home!  His Grandpa, Marma, Aunt Abby, Uncle Reagan, Uncle Jay, and Aunt Courtney have really enjoyed holding Sam......and playing Rock Band.  Uncle Jay has such a "lovely" singing voice....ha!

Funny side note - before we left the hospital today, the nursery nurse commented on how he doesn't have a bit of jaundice - and how rare it is for a baby to not have even a little bit.  Jon and I couldn't help but laugh seeing as how he's our little Jondice....ha!

10 perfect little fingers and 10 perfect little toes....

Sam is here and he is perfect in every way! We can't stop looking at just how precious he is!

Samuel Alex Mason

Born on 9.23.08 at 8:14pm

8 lbs, 13 oz (thank you Lord for epidurals!)

20 1/4 inches long

The nurses all said he's got a head full of red hair. The jury's still out in my opinion. It looks more brown with a reddish tint to me!!! He's adorable nonetheless!

Here's a few pics. Jon and I are doing good - got a little sleep last night and I'm getting around well today....a little sore but that's what the pain meds are for, right!

Love to all!

Fast Times at Baby High

Hey all,
It is 5:30pm and still no baby. He's just hanging out in the womb. We're still waiting. We'll give details when he's here, hopefully in the next couple hours.

Blog Updates!

Hello all!

Ok - as you may notice - I changed the look of our blog! I finally figured out how to change the template - and make it work :)

I would also like you to know that my husband *may* be posting blogs here occasionally. Some of you may remember his "monthly" newsletters he'd send out by email a few years ago - and we're hoping he gets back into that!!! So - if you see him, be sure and bug him about it!

As far as Sam progress....as of last week, still dilated to a 3 and 90% effaced. I really prefer him to come on his own time - but I also prefer my doctor to be the one to deliver!!! So come rain or shine, we'll see our little guy on Tuesday, if not before then! He seems quite snuggly and comfortable where he is right now, so we'll see :)

Love to all!

Doing the happy dance!!!

I just got back from the doctor, and all looks well! She's going out of town on the 24th (my due date is the 25th!), so she offered to schedule an induction, and naturally I agreed!!! We will be meeting our little boy Sam on Tuesday, Sept 23rd!! (if he hasn't decided to come before then) We check in at 7:30am, and since I'm already dilated and progressing, she figures it should be a relatively timely labor. Let's hope!

We are VERY excited about the little guy - and can't wait to meet him!!!

Any day now!

So, last week I went for my regular dr appointment, and she checked me. I was dilated to 1 cm and 25% effaced. As of yesterday, I am officially 3 cm dilated, and 75% effaced!!! Of course, I have just as good of a chance to go past my due date as I do going into labor tomorrow! I'm just glad things seem to be progressing :) The doctor did say she would see me next week for my appointment, if she doesn't see me before then.....

I didn't realize just HOW big I've gotten until a couple of days ago when Kendra and I went to Chili's for lunch. I couldn't fit into the booth!!! Literally, I was stuck. Luckily, the other side of the booth was a bit bigger so Kendra and I switched and didn't have to ask for a table.....whew.

On a lighter note, Jon has decided to not go on his work conference this next week. I am SOOOOO VERY relieved! Especially after the dr visit yesterday afternoon. Sam very well could make his appearance any day now, and it would be horrible if Jon was away.

Our house is a disaster area. My nesting phase went into overdrive a couple of weeks ago - poor Jon. I decided that the kitchen cabinets were hideous (which they were!), and Sam could not come home to a house with ugly kitchen cabinets. So, Jon sweetly agreed to paint them :) Our kitchen has taken over the living room, dining room, and other parts of the house. We got the insides painted and the facing painted - so last night, we put everything back into the cabinets!! The doors and drawers still need to be painted, but we will do that at our own leisure. At least the difficult part is done. Now, I'm frantically praying that if Sam decides to come early, he'll at least wait until after the weekend (and avoid the 11th - 9/11) so that I can get the house in order!

That's it for now!!!

My Work Diaper Shower!

I have absolutely the best coworkers around! They threw us a diaper shower, and it was SO much fun! And, they are so creative! They had strung a clothesline with clothespins for diapers. Each of the guests were asked to write something entertaining on the diapers, to make diaper changing a little more fun! Here's some pics:

And, of course - since I'm a computer programmer nerd and my fellow coworkers are computer nerds as well (said with love of course!) - there were some very funny diapers that I got a kick out of!

I had a great time! When I got home, I counted all the diapers we received as well as wipes. We got a total of around 1100 diapers - and a little over 1700 wipes!!!

Boy - is it HOT!!!!

It's getting closer and closer to my 1/2 gallon of Loaded Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough icecream experience. I've restrained from buying that bucket of yummy goodness this entire pregnancy, with the promise to myself that when the time is right - I will buy one and sit on the couch and eat as much of it as I want!!! The time is near....

7 more weeks! Yay! Sam is the size of a pineapple this week, which totally makes sense because it feels like a couple of the sharp pointy leaves are poking in my ribs :)

It's an exciting week! Tuesday we had our 2nd installment of the "Babies-4-Dummies" package - Breastfeeding. Jon and I made it through the entire class without bolting for the door in fear or embarassment. I'm glad we went - I learned quite a bit and feel a little less stressed :) Tonight is our first of three "Birthing of Your Baby" classes.

Tomorrow (08-08-08) is an exciting day! My good friend Keely is being induced and will have little Ashlynn! She's the first of the three pregnateers to pop and can't wait to meet her little one!! Also, my work is throwing us a diaper shower! How exciting :)

Here's some fun summer pictures from the past 7 years that I came across!

2002 - shared birthday party with my sister! I turned 23 and Abby turned 18.

2003 - Karaoke night at Hudsons with my friends Jaena and Kendra. This is the night Jon and I talked and exchanged phone numbers!

2004 - work conference in Florida! We had a great time at Disney World - definitely a trip to remember :) (the camera timestamp is wrong, it was actually June 2004!)

2005 - At a surprise birthday party that Jon and my friends Greg and Julie had for me! It was such a surprise, and so much fun!

2006 - July 4th, the day we moved into our house! What a happy day - and we had SO many wonderful friends help us move too - on a holiday!!! What a blessing.

2007 - lake trip to Tenkiller with our good friends! we had so much fun and still talk about it all the time :)

2008 - the day before my birthday! 7 months pregnant with Sam and enjoying every minute of it! (Isn't our nephew Henry a cutie patootie!)

Stay cool!

Jondice baby pictures!

My co-workers asked for some baby pictures to display at a diaper shower they are throwing us. So, here's what we are giving them - and a little insight on what Sam might look like :)

Our Awesome Texas Baby Shower!

Ok - so I'm a little late posting about this - but my computer at home is 'sick' - so, it's been difficult trying to get the pictures uploaded.

Last weekend, we went to Texas for a baby shower that my sister, cousins, and aunts threw for us. I was amazed to see how many people love Sam so much - and he's not even here yet! He's one spoiled kiddo too! The lovely hostesses did such a great job on the shower - we enjoyed it so much!!! Here's some pics:

The awesome diaper cake my mom made for the shower! Isn't she creative?!?!?

The "Daddy Jon on Duty (Doody)" apron - with Duncan's head in the picture....I wonder what he's sniffing...

The sign-in table - isn't it cute!

Sam's guestbook picture frame!

The goody table! The duck was filled with punch and they had an awesome cake with icecream sundaes!

Marma's gifts to Sam - cute bag, huh?

Now that Jon has all the tools needed for diapering - he has no excuse :) "It's a good time!!!" (for those that don't know Jon - that's his favorite thing to say!)

Me with the hostesses - (left to right) Aunt Fern, cousin Meggie, Aunt Lynn, myself, Aunt Jane, sister Abby, cousin Amanda. They did such a great job! Thanks bunches from Jon, Candice, and baby Sam! Love y'all!

Diaper changing Dads!

Last night, we had our first installment of what I call the "Babies-4-Dummies" package. My hospital offers classes for new parents in birthing and caring for a baby. Last nights class was "Caring for Your Baby". We got there around 6:30 and left around 9:00. At the end of the class, they showed this video - and I think I nearly cried with laughter!

I can't wait to see Jon change his first poopy diaper :)

My friend Jennifer had their little baby girl last night!!! Kate Marie Kindle. I'm so happy for them! This is their 4th - she has 3 other adorable little boys.

My weekend of fun!!!

Friday, I took the day off and spent it with Jon for an early birthday 'day of fun'! We went out for breakfast and then went shopping the rest of the day. That evening, my bunco ladies threw me a surprise shower!!! It was so sweet of them to think of us! I have really enjoyed playing with them for 1 1/2 years now - and have made friends for life! Here's some pics of the fun we had. Excuse my excessive sweating - hey, I'm pregnant and it's July!! Plus, let's just see how fat my face can get :)

The nursery is nearly done!!! Jon, Donnie, and Bernie finished installing the floors and put the counter top on the cabinets!! I've taken some pics, and will post when I get them uploaded. We still need to do a few minor things, but it looks amazing and I can't wait for Sam to get here - he's gonna love it :) We've got the crib ordered and it will hopefully be here in the next few weeks.....hopefully.

Yesterday (Monday) was my birthday. Big 2-9. I can't believe this is the last year for me to be in my twenties!!! I had a great birthday weekend though. Not only did I get to spend Friday with my hubby, have a surprise bunco baby shower, go out to eat with my best friend Kendra, get the nursery almost done, AND have Patty's amazing strawberry cake - but, we bought a car last night!!! Yes, we traded in the Liberty for something a little bigger, with a much smoother ride. We bought an '07 Chevy Trailblazer and got a really good deal! I pick it up on Thursday, because we got them to add leather seats to it for free! I sure hope they have it ready by then because we are leaving early Friday morning for Texas. My sister is throwing us a shower and it should be such a fun weekend!!!

4th of July in Iowa!

We had such a great time in Iowa over the 4th! The drive was, well, exhausting, but we all had fun!

Early Thursday morning (around 6am) we packed up Liz and Bernie's suburban and headed off. It was me, Jon, Liz, Bernie, and baby Henry. Once we got to Kansas City, MO - we decided to stop for lunch. A few months ago, we all were watching an episode of Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives with Guy Fieri on the Food Network. They had visited Mama's 39th Street Diner and we were mesmerized by their food - or as Guy would put it, "it's like Christmas time in Flavortown!". They had homemade corned beef - so I, of course, got a reuben. It was AMAZING! But, not as good as the lemon-berry marzipan cake we had for dessert....it was "off the hook"....

We got to Urbandale, Iowa around 6:30pm - twelve hours later. We were very tired, but glad to be there! Here's some pics of the welcoming commitee :) Thanks Patty - I hijacked your pics!

Darrell and Neva (Jon's grandparents), Jon, Liz, Me, and Sam
This is Sam's first picture with his great-grandparents :)

Our nephew Henry, with his great-grandparents.
He was such a good baby on the car ride!!!

That evening, we sat around on the deck visiting and eating. Jon met his new girlfriend Mackenna that night. Yes, I've been replaced by a cute blonde! They played in the bird bath and caught lightning bugs all night long.

Mackenna, 3 years old

She was so adorable!!! She just fell in love with Jon - he is her "favorite boy". He was wearing a red shirt on Thursday - so she called him the "red boy". Friday he was "blue boy" and Saturday he was her "favorite boy"....they had a lot of fun!

Friday morning, we got up and went to the parade. Jon's grandpa walks in it every year. Here's a few pics:

Here they come!

Hi Grandpa Darrell!!

Jon, with Kenna in his lap. She's wearing her "ear clubs" because the firetrucks are loud!

Henry - tuckered out....

That afternoon - Jon, Donnie, and Bernie helped Aunt Pam work on her deck. Pam let us crash at her place during our trip and was such a gracious hostess!!! Thanks Pam!!!

They got a lot done, while I took a much needed pregnancy nap!

That evening - we had a bbq at Darrell and Neva's. I ate SO MUCH FOOD! It was awesome!

Saturday was full of rest and relaxation. Pam made us breakfast. After breakfast, Jon and I went upstairs and fell asleep until around noon! Can't beat a nap right after breakfast! That evening, we went to church and then to Mustard's - a restaurant in Iowa.

We visited the remainder of the night and said our goodbyes before heading off to Pam's for the night.

Henry's first 4th of July!! He is such a doll!

Aunt Pam, Aunt Marcia, Patty, and Aunt Theresa

Henry, Kenna, and Greyson

Sunday morning - we headed back to Oklahoma City. We left a little before 8am and got back around 6pm. We went to pick up Barkles at the kennel and spent the rest of the evening in bed watching episodes of 24...our new addiction :)

It was a good mini-vacation, filled with lots of memories!
